Stamppot
A traditional Dutch dish made with potatoes, vegetables, and a rich broth.
Ingredients
- 2 kg potatoes, peeled and diced
- 500 g carrots, peeled and diced
- 500 g onions, peeled and diced
- 500 g butter
- 500 g bacon, diced
- 500 g sausage, sliced
- 1 liter beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the bacon and sausage, and cook until crispy.
- Add the onions and carrots, and cook until softened.
- Add the potatoes and beef broth, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
Failure Modes
- Undercooked potatoes: Simmer for longer.
- Dry broth: Add more beef broth.
- Burnt bacon: Cook at a lower temperature.
